I have an article that I would Like to submit to a magazine preferably other than Parents/Family Circle unless you have links to some way I can submit to those sites.

Most magazines do not accept unsolicited material.

My family is very health conscience. My husband’s family likes the greasy southern food. Fried chicken, collard greens kind of things. How can I come up with a menu that makes everyone happy? Without me being in the kitchen forever.

How about a little something for everyone?

A scrumptious salad? Bean salads? I do not know just what makes up Southern cuisine besides grits n stuff so forgive my ignorance. But methinks pork innards are not something you should be dealing with!

A good old barbeque with ribs n sauce. Let them have their greasy meats, you stick to what pleases you. Let the guys bond over the fire, they love to do that stuff. Let your man give you some clues, and perhaps offer to do this part.

Potatoes in any way shape or form but fried.

Is fresh corn available yet? With so much summer goodness available, celebrate the season with good summer foods that are seasonal.

Remember, carrying a grandbaby can get you a LOT of brownie points! You might be able to even serve them a healthy meal if you remind them that you are concerned about what you eat considering your "condition".

To be honest, in the summer, how can one NOT just live off the best fresh produce around?

As for a desert, something that will go over big like a big old barrel of ice cream and sauce or fruit or pie or something special that his momma or poppa is extra fond of?

Good luck!

Family resorts in Cancun, Mexico?

Anyone have any good recommendations for nice all-inclusive resorts in Cancun that a family of four with 2 kids 9 & 11 will enjoy for a reasonable price?

My huband and I have been to the Moon Palace and love it. We’re just wondering if there are cheaper resorts that are just as nice. One thing we like about Palace Resorts are the free excursions.

You answered your own question…twice! You love the Moon Palace and the free excursions. Don’t mess with a good thing. Cheaper sometimes will have you regretting your decision.

Are there any christian, etc. counseling sites or ? for talking with someone about some major family and maybe mental health issues someone could be struggling with but still remain anonymous? Either live chat, email or something along those lines. I am not sure how much time this person has to get this problem under control before it’s to late….

Try using google for a search engine. There will be many sites that offer free counseling. Also some 800 numbers such as SAVE can be a great help.

heres the thing i had insurance through healthy families until i was 19 but at 19 they dropped me. was it because i wasnt in school or because you stop getting insurance at 19 period. regardless of whether or not you are in school? this insurance is called healthy families or healthnet in california. its government funded and is sort of ike medi-cal except this insurance is for families that make a little more than medi-cal famiies. i’m enrolled in 14 units in school right now so can i get insurance? and if so how? oh and yes my parents still do claim me as a dependant

if your a full time student than you should be able to be under your moms/dads policy esp. if you are a dependent.

they dropped you because you were not in school, correct.

Me and my two daughters, (14 and 17) are planning on going on a mexican vacation this spring break. We are considering a few places: Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos or the Mayan Rivera. Which one of these cities is best for a family vacation? We are looking for a city with lots of attractions and fun things to do. Also, I’m looking for any good resorts in these areas. Thank you!

The Mayan Riviera is the only one that is located on the Caribbean side. I much prefer the Caribbean to the Pacific side. The water is so much warmer and it’s that beautiful turquoise blue. On the Pacific side, it’s rough and cold.
Stay in Playa del Carmen (fly to Cancun, PDC is 40 minutes south), You don’t mention if you want an AI or not. I put a link to the Riu AI (very nice, kid friendly) and to a really nice condo complex. I personally prefer the condo because you have a kitchen to stock with all the things that teenagers like, they can sleep late, and you can still be up in the living room or on the deck. Check out the webcams on the condo site. What a great beach and pool! The nice thing about this condo is it is really close to downtown, so you don’t need to worry about a car or Taxis. Plus, it’s in the gated community of Playacar with 24 hour security.
For things to do: Try Xcaret, Xplor, Tulum, Chichen Itza, take the ferry to Cozumel. I put links for you to look at. 5th Avenue in PDC is a really fun area for shopping and restaurants.
Hope you have fun. You will love the area.
